ReplyDeleteHe was on his way to Argonne to present to govt powers-that-be and I had a chance to see EXACTLY how the scientific community presents information to us "laymen." The very first thing he did is establish hierarchy. He said: "Show of hands, how many of you have had college level science courses?" We sheepishly raise hands. "Now, how many of you had those course in the earth sciences?" Well, not me, so now I'm the chimp. He continues-"Most of the people in the United States have not had a science class since high school, and not many have had any "earth sciences" since middle school. That's what's wrong with this country, no one has the educational background to understand what we're really up against." Ouch.
I did learn a great deal, and it's a good thing I'm a nihilist, because after that lecture, I rest assured knowing that the Earth is gonna do what it's gonna do, we will die off like the mammals that we are. I know that this global warming issue, underneath, is all about which country will have the ability to tweak the Earth's thermostat to favor one group over another, and so far the United States is NOT in the advantage. There are WAY bigger upcoming geological events coming up faster than global warming, far faster, and FAR more cataclysmic. Drink up, Shriners!
